Flowers Coming from Gen-1

This post is a flower update for the first generation of our Super Silver Haze clones. As you can see, our flowers are turning fuzzy with resin. The flowering stage for any sexual plant is part of a beautiful and important process that allows us all to survive on planet Earth. Without this process, we wouldn't be able to have fruit, grain or even the wonderful natural medicine we garden.

Flowering plants like cannabis allows us to manipulate their growth process in its later stages of life. Some may ask what makes the flower so important? Flowers from cannabis produce a psychedelic resin in the form of cannabinoid oil, which is secreted out of small plant hairs called trichomes. Cannabis uses this resin to deter animals from eating it due to its pungent smell and taste. It also acts as a barrier between the plant and fungus. In the wild, male cannabis plants will create a pollen that will fall onto the flower by wind or traveling insects, making the female cannabis plants product seeds for a new generation. Those seeds will be imbedded in the flower - hence if you buy some bad cannabis, chances are they'll be filled with seeds and stems, giving you a poor experience for your cannabis ingestion.

This may all sound familiar, but you as a gardener always have to refer back to nature in order to understand what your plant is saying and what it needs in order to prosper on this process, simply because it's the actual reason why we grow cannabis in the first place. Without these flowers, you have no other psychedelic or medicinal properties. Sure, you can make some rope or a couple of hemp shirts with the stem but let's be honest, we didn't get gardening to make a sweater...

I hope my little blog is keeping you entertained. If you have any questions on gardening, please let me know. Happy gardening and happy Summer Solstice!
