Cannabis plant stressed from the heat

It is that time of year where the interior of your typical southwestern home begins to warm past an uncomfortable level.

The AC runs all day and still you can't catch a break. Now couple that with a plant inside a small mylar tent and an artificial sun gleams over it for 12 hours. Without adequate air circulation and warm temperatures, your plant is bound to suffer.

Here are some examples of my female hybrid Peyote Gorilla clones, stressing from the heat.

A lot of leaf drop and some look a little malnourished.

Now it's cleaned up, the dead leaves and weak stems removed. This also provides great circulation.

The buds are slightly smaller than usual. There's still plenty of product but the stress slows production.

I vacuumed the bottom to keep the area clean and set an ice pack in the reservoir.

Although just one plant, the whole task of trimming and adjusting the flower buds cost me several hours. Tasks like these definitely show appreciation to those that have access to automated machines that can do all this once the harvest is made.

Anytime while dealing with the plant material, your gear should be gloves, long sleeves, sunglasses, a clean blade or a pair of scissors you don't mind getting dirty, or you can use your fingers to pry off the leaves. Long gloves will prevent your body from breaking out in a rash, gloves will provide you with protection from the oils coming off the plant, sunglasses are primarily used to protect your eyes from the light source - or you can simply do this task when the light is out, a blade or scissors is used for trimming but they will get dirty very quickly with the oils of the plant. If you plan on using your fingers, without gloves, it is best to lubricate them with soap to keep oil from sticking to your fingers.

When done dispose of all the raw material in any bedding you have outside for your outdoor plants: you can use the leaves and the stem as compost.

Use a hand vac or shop vac to clean up the bottom of your tent.
