April 30th, 2024 Update - Flowering Stage AND News of Cannabis becoming Schedule 3

The White Widow is now growing some nice spire colas. The signature scent of the cannabis plant in full bloom is permeating throughout the dwelling. Any touching of the plant will leave your hands sticky and smelly. It's acting almost like a glue. It takes some time now to wash the hands, so it's all gloves until this crop is done.

Here's the current setup. I'm planning on trimming up the lower leaves, which will redirect the plants resources to the flower. It's also been getting warmer, so I'm taking extra precautions to check the water levels more than regular and it too has been worth it. The water intake from this plant is very fast and I've been topping off the reservoir at the two gallon mark and providing it 4 grams of nutes instead of my usual 2 grams.

Creating the DIY lid:
Notice the lid is orange, which comes from a very popular box store that sells home and garden products... The lid itself was cut to fit a six inch net pot. To make the lid all I used was a marker and a razor blade. Wear gloves, for the blade makes a sharp plastic edge that can cut like a knife. I strongly suggest you shave or dull the plastic for your safety. Use the marker and drop the net put upside down to draw out a circle. Then carefully cut INSIDE the circle to create a lip. It doesn't have to be perfect but if you're using a blade, start with a cut line to get the right shape and then dig deeper to complete the cut. This can also be made with a very sharp kitchen knife or some industrial strength shears. Just be careful not to slip the blade.

I purchased a net pot from a local hydro store for a few bucks. I cut and measured out the hole and made sure the net pot fit perfectly. I added a quarter inch notch in the orange lid to fit the air stone tubing through. The picture below shows the tubing and top. The plant's supported by expanded clay pellets (Hydroton).

And here is the product coming through. This cola is still at around 10cm tall (4 inches) but it's now getting thicker and producing more white hairs as it expands. Like I mentioned, the dwelling is definitely smelling with an intense layer of lemons, oranges, coffee, and you can say "fruity pebbles" scent throughout the house. The plant does also have a lot of sticky resin that is now channeling down the short sail leaves.

At this stage I spend my time trimming up the plant and making sure there's adequate circulation for the plant to grow toward the harvest. If you're wondering if this product is "ripe" for the picking, technically yes. But I feel there's still a lot of growth that can come from this crop. I like to see about 70% of the hairs to be brown. Not too dry, not to crispy.

And then CHOP! It's harvest time!

Did you all been hearing about the federal government is planning on changing cannabis to a schedule 3 drug? That's along the lines of strong Tylenol or some steroids, which will change the lives of those affected by cannabis as a criminal offense. That's great! Come on, let's see this nation legalize a plant!

Thanks for reading.
